From The Petoskey News-Review
PETOSKEY — Nine schools competed at North Central Michigan College on Nov. 9 in the second Char-Em ISD Quiz Bowl tournament of the year.
St. Michael Academy repeated as champions, but with a slight twist this time, as their undefeated B team beat their previously unbeaten A team in the finals. Both St. Michael Academy teams won their respective morning divisions, along with Boyne City’s A team. East Jordan’s A team moved into the final playoff rounds as an at-large pick, due to having the most total points of all the other second place teams including a 6-1 Ellsworth A team and a Charlevoix B team that finished 5- 2. East Jordan A went on to edge Boyne City A in the consolation finals.
Other schools’ teams that did well during the day include Petoskey, Concord Academy Boyne, Central Lake and Concord Academy Petoskey.
The next Quiz Bowl tournament is scheduled to begin 9 a.m. on Nov. 30 at North Central Michigan College. The public is welcome to attend.
